Handcrafted Chesterfields from a family with more than a century in the leather trade.
Our story
Chesterfield Studio is part of Newman & Bright, a Manchester-based maker of high-quality upholstered furniture. Our story is rooted in a long tradition of leather craftsmanship that goes back to the late nineteenth century.
Our family's leather business began in Manchester, supplying fine hides to the footwear and furniture trades from workshops in the city. Over the generations it built a reputation for material expertise, consistency and craftsmanship, and a deep understanding of what makes leather beautiful, durable and long-lasting.
From leather to furniture
That expertise grew naturally into furniture making, bringing our knowledge of fine materials together with design and hand manufacture. Today our workshops in the North West of England are staffed by experienced, time-served craftsmen, building every piece from a solid hardwood frame with high-quality fillings.
Because we make everything ourselves, we control every stage of the process. It means we can inspect every piece before it leaves us, and respond to our customers' individual needs.

Chesterfield Studio brings together our most popular Chesterfield in six sizes, from the High Back Chair and Footstool to the 4 Seater, in three timeless hand-antiqued leathers: Antique Brown, Antique Green and Antique Rosso.
By keeping the range focused and selling directly from our workshop, we can offer exceptional value without compromising on craftsmanship, construction or materials. Every piece is made to order, delivered by our own two-man team, and protected by our 5-year guarantee.
